Our President and CEO, David Blumenstein, has made the following statement on George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the horrifying killings of so many others.
George Floyd. Ahmaud Arbery. Breonna Taylor. Their horrifying killings and killings of so many others are disturbing reminders of the dangers Black people face in America as a part of their daily lives. They shine a light on the fact that racism is, unfortunately, woven into the fabric of our country in ways both seen and unseen.
I am outraged by these senseless acts and, in the best tradition of this country, support the right and need to peacefully protest injustice and to call on our institutions and government to implement substantive and sustainable change.
One of Segal’s core values is to treat others the way we want to be treated: with integrity, civility, mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation. We must be vigilant in living and working in accord with these ideals, not only to help our business succeed, but also to serve as a role model for society.
There is no place for racism or discrimination at Segal — or anywhere — against any group in any form. I believe that diversity and inclusion is not only a business imperative essential to Segal’s and our clients’ success, but is a social imperative, the foundation of building a just society where all people are respected and valued.
As part of our commitment, Segal supports Jobs With Justice, a non-profit organization that fights for working people at the intersection of civil rights and corporate accountability. I am inspired by the cutting-edge work that they do to promote racial justice in the workplace. At Segal, we have established a matching program for employee contributions to Jobs With Justice. We encourage you to join us by contributing to this worthwhile organization.
While Segal is making progress in becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization, we also know there is more to do and we are committed to this journey. Our mission to deliver trusted advice that improves lives is important now more than ever — for each other, for our clients and for our communities.
