The requirements differ by role. Our brokers hold state resident and non-resident licenses (Property and Casualty, Agent and/or Life and Health insurance). Some members of the insurance brokerage practice have these professional credentials: Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and/or Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU). If you are new to the industry, you can earn licenses and professional credentials while you work for us.

Our hiring decisions are based on a variety of factors, and not being chosen for one role does not affect your eligibility for future positions. We welcome applicants to apply for full-time roles that align with their skills and career goals.
If we have a relevant job opening, we may offer a full-time job to an intern who has performed well during the internship. In fact, many of our colleagues — at all levels of the organization — first joined us as interns.
Application submission: Candidates apply either through Segal Marco Advisors’ official job listings or by submitting an open application if no current role fits.
Acknowledgment: Upon receiving an application, Segal sends email confirmation.
Interview process: If selected, candidates participate in interviews with HR, the hiring manager and relevant team members. The number and type of interviews vary depending on the scope of the role.
Security and privacy: Segal Marco Advisors emphasizes protecting applicant data — no Social Security numbers or fees are ever requested.
Communication: Interviews are conducted via Microsoft Teams and/or in person.

Segal Marco Advisors has a robust onboarding program that provides a roadmap for your first 90 days and beyond. You will be exposed to a variety of training topics based on your area of expertise.

Like new hires in any role, you can expect a lot of training and guidance when you start in a client-facing role. Your leaders, manager and colleagues will work closely with you to get you up to speed on expectations and the client work you’ll be doing. You’ll meet clients directly — virtually and in person — depending on needs and the cadence of client work. We are proud of how we build longstanding and close relationships with our clients. There is no typical client team at Segal Marco Advisors because we staff each client team based on the client’s unique needs. Our approach to consulting is holistic, which means a client team may draw of the expertise of multiple colleagues so we can deliver custom solutions to the client. You’ll benefit from hands-on experience and have the opportunity to learn from your peers and project leaders.

Throughout the year, our subject matter experts conduct numerous training courses across the organization. We require all colleagues to take annual companywide training, including topics like cybersecurity awareness and best practices. We offer training in business skills and on our technology.

Is there any training or professional development specifically for the investment advisory business?
Yes. Segal Marco Advisors has a professional development program called Knowledge Empowers You (KEY) program. KEY features a mix of internal and external subject matter experts covering topics on our services, the industry and topical matters related to investments.
We have a tool called Career Navigator that helps everyone determine what skills to master and what competencies to demonstrate so they can move to the next level in their careers. We also have a resource that recommends self-directed training based on an individual’s level within the organization and their career goals.
